Favorite personal belongings help in adjusting to the nursing home.  Although we encourage you to bring them in, please use discretion in the amount of which you bring in.  With limited space, sometimes things become cluttered and hazardous.  Please check this routinely and possibly rotate belongings.  If there are special personal items that your family members want, please make sure these items are clearly marked with their name.  Items that need to be hung will be done through the Maintenance dept.  For the safety of our residents no heavy items will be hung above the resident's head of bed.  All electrical items will be inspected upon admission.  No residents are allowed to have hazardous chemicals, cigarettes or cigarette lighters/matches in their rooms.  If approved, these items will be locked up at the nurse's stations and apportioned out to the resident on an as needed basis.

Valuables:  Each individual has certain treasures that mean a great deal to them.  It may be a picture, a piece of jewelry or an object.  We understand the importance of these valuables and to assure that they are secure, they may be locked up in the business office.  We would prefer that the family take these valuables home.  If this is not possible, we encourage the residents to lock up their valuables.

Television:  The facility provides a television in both the lounges for the enjoyment of our residents.  Residents have the option of bringing in a television from home for their room.

Telephone:  We believe it is important for residents to maintain contact with family and friends by telephone.  We provide a pay phone for residents use in the front lobby in the hallway.  There are also cordless phones at each nurse's station.  We also encourage pre-paid phone cards which staff will assist in using.  Private telephones in residents rooms may be arranged for by the family with Gallatin River at (309) 246-2085.
