A Community of prayer, concern, caring and loving
service for others was the spirit of Mother Anna Brunner when she founded the
DAUGHTERS OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI in 1892 in Budapest, AustriaHungary. Under
her guidance, a group of young women came together to share in prayer, work and
community life, following the Rule and Spirit of St. Francis.
As the Community grew
in fervor and numbers, it expanded and began a new Province in Romania,
Slovakia, and in 1946 in the United States. Today our Sisters are serving in
Illinois
and Missouri.
LIFE: Through our life of prayer and ministry, the
Daughters of St. Francis of Assisi, carry on the mission of Christ in the world,
through caring for the sick, aged, and youth in hospital, nursing home, CCD
class, and social work.
As Franciscans, our Sisters have dedicated
themselves to the service of God, joining the Spirit of love of the Gospel, joy,
humility, simplicity and poverty. Holy Mass and the Divine Office are celebrated
daily within the Community.
